Summary of report content

Healthwatch Norfolk undertook public and partner engagement to inform and support the development of Norfolk’s Health and Wellbeing Boards next strategy in relation to its specific priority on prevention. The report contains findings under the three prevention priorities set by the board for 2018-21.

Healthwatch have provided a summary conclusion and key areas that need consideration. This includes:

  • Prioritising prevention is a challenge for both the system and for individuals
  • Considerations must be at individual, place-based and system wide level for preventive activities to have full impact
  • Technology can play a key role
  • Health and wellbeing at workplace can have a profound impact on individual wellbeing and prevention
  • The importance of consistent messaging across the system
  • Prevention needs to start early and ensuring that children and families are supported from the earliest possible stage
  • Value of co-production in developing and even delivering support around preventative activity
  • General lack of evaluation data available from most organisations, services, and projects, on their prevention initiatives and financial impact
  • Ongoing impact of the pandemic on access to services and people feeling lost within the system
