Summary of report content

Healthwatch Luton carried out a virtual listening event on 13 January 2022 to understand women’s experience of going through the menopause.  They spoke to 5 women.

Women felt there was a lack of support and consideration for women experiencing hot flushes, tiredness or brain fog at work.

Whilst GPs could be understanding, short appointments meant that women couldn’t explain their experience at length.

All participants agreed that raising awareness about menopause in the work environment is crucial. There is a need for appropriate support measures that are gender sensitive and confidential. Having a flexible working environment for menopausal symptoms was also considered important by participants.

The report contains 6 recommendations.
