Summary of report content

Healthwatch Brent undertook an engagement event on 3 February 2025 to feed into local engagement on the NHS 10 Year Plan.  15 people attended.

Better use of technology

People wanted to see technology used to speed up systems, undertake rapid diagnosis and free up time for medical professionals.  They were concerned about data security, updating technology meaning more costs for patients and digital exclusion.

Moving care from hospitals to the community

People hoped that moving care from hospitals to the community would speed up times between referral to treatment and make care easier to access.  They were concerned that it might not make much of a difference.

People hoped use of virtual wards would mean people could be treated at home in familiar surroundings, but were concerned about family support being available.

People hoped that access to community diagnostic centres would be easier to access and speed up diagnosis.

People hoped that ambulance triage would save resources and target them on those most in need.  People were concerned about the possibility of misdiagnosis.

Prevention

People wanted to see education, healthy food, screening programmes and weight management prioritised.
