Healthwatch Walsall undertook a survey with people who have used the urgent treatment centres at Walsall Manor Hospital. 71 people completed the survey in total.

The majority of respondents (73%) said they had contacted another health provider before they attended the UTC. People were most likely to visit the UTC if they could not get a GP appointment, followed by a referral by NHS 111.

Most people (77%) were told how long they should expect to wait to be seen by a doctor or a nurse, and 56% had received updates during their visit. People were most likely to wait for one to two hours (36%), and only 2% had waited longer than four hours.

Most people (73%) rated medical staff as professional, and no one thought they were unprofessional. 93% of those who answered said that their medical need was addressed successfully and 7% said that it was not.

A number of recommendations were made in the report.
