Summary of report content

Healthwatch Oldham and Oldham Safeguarding Adults team produced a survey to understand accessibility for people in a wheelchair. 15 people completed the survey.

They ranked transport, ambulance services, dentists and pharmacy services as being problematic in terms of wheelchair access.

Less than a third were members of a social or community group.  They highlighted their disability as a barrier, but also footpath accessibility, mental health, access to toilet facilities, venue and activity access and a lack of transport.

Around half of those who took part were in paid employment or were volunteering.

The report includes 5 recommendations.
