Summary of report content

Healthwatch Croydon organised a focus group on 26 January 2021 to provide feedback on the Healthy London Partnership GP access guide draft.  At least 10 people took part.

The main themes in the discussion were:

  • Difficulties in booking appointments and long waits, including to get through or for an interpreter
  • Issues of trust
  • Support for self-care
  • Need to train staff
  • Lack of interpreters
  • Issues around registration, access and documents
  • Patient and appointment types
  • Communication
  • Discrimination, privacy and dignity
  • Risk
  • Information and solutions

The report contains 14 recommendations about a person-centred approach, information providing, language support, technology, community, staff and training.
