Summary of report content

This is a report on research undertaken by Autism Hope using a micro grant from Healthwatch Sheffield.  The purpose is to hear from groups that are trusted partners in their communities to ensure that their voices are heard by decision makers.

Autism Hope are a support group for parents and carers of children with autism. The research involved a survey of 37 parents who had accessed support for their autistic children.  The research looks at:

  • The demographics of the parents
  • The diagnoses that their children had received
  • How the children had been diagnosed
  • How they had accessed support from services
  • Whether they had accessed support as a parent carer.

The report contains 12 recommendations about diagnosis, support, education and involving parent carers.
