Healthwatch Halton undertook research to gather feedback from people about their experiences at Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital. Data were collected via questionnaires administered during outreach sessions conducted June and August 2024. A total of 54 people provided feedback.
Overall, people's experiences and care at Whiston Hospital were positive with 97% rating their treatment and care as ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’. People provided positive feedback on: appointments and waiting times; end of life care; facilities and surroundings; inpatient care; and staff, treatment, and care. Areas for improvement identified included: appointments, corridor care, discharge, facilities and surroundings, food, night-time care, parking, pharmacy, staff, translations, and waiting times. Respondents said that staff have enough time to spend with patients, they had been given enough information about their treatment, that the hospital was accessible, and they had been treated with dignity and respect.
