Summary of report content

Healthwatch Isles of Scilly undertook a survey of people’s experiences of remote consultations during the Covid-19 pandemic. As there have been significant changes in the way that people have experienced medical appointments, they wanted to know the experiences of their community in this area.  11 people responded.

Four in five found having a remote consultation was a useful experience More than four in five of these consultations were by telephone and of these 80% of respondents found it a positive experience. Both people who had a video consultation found it a positive experience.

There were a range of different specialist areas that remote consultations were happening in. 46% of respondents said that they would have preferred a face to face appointment. From the stories the main theme was that people would like to choose the type of appointment that they have and be given a specific time that this happens.

There were two recommendations about the health centre giving a specific time for appointments and giving people a choice of type of appointment.
