Between January and February 2021, Healthwatch Haringey heard from 445 people about their experiences and thoughts about the COVID-19 vaccine, through an online survey.
33% (149) of participants were White British. 6% (26) were Black, and 11% (47) were from other ethnic minority groups.
Overall, roughly 80% of participants intended to have the vaccine when it became available to them. The most common reason for intending to have the vaccine was “I want to ensure I don’t get sick from COVID”.
This reason was most common to White British participants. Fewer Black and other ethnic minority participants selected this as their reason for intending to have the vaccine. More participants from these communities also selected “I want to get my life back to normal” as a reason for wanting the COVID vaccine.
Healthwatch Haringey also asked people about their concerns or worries about the vaccine. The most common concern was that the vaccine has not been tested enough.
