Summary of report content

Healthwatch Slough undertook an enter and view visit to Langley Haven Care Home on 2 and 7 September 2024.  They spoke to 6 residents, 7 relatives or friends and 12 members of staff.

Key findings

Langley Haven is well run; staff are busy and enjoy their roles and working as a team.

It has excellent activities and residents particularly liked to go out in the bus for visits to garden centres and local church groups. There is a reminiscence room which can be used as a quiet space for residents and relatives.

Staff are aware of hydration needs.

Relatives felt that food was good and dietary preferences were taken into account. The food is freshly made and relatives can join their loved ones for meals, should they wish to.

Impact – making a difference

The staff feel able to raise concerns and have training related to the needs of their residents.

The manager has recruited staff with language skills suited to the residents’ needs.

Relatives are encouraged to visit and feel very welcome.
