Healthwatch Swindon reported on the results of survey undertaken by the Harbour Project, an organisation working with refugees and asylum seekers, which they had funded. They undertook a survey to which 50 clients of the Harbour Project responded between 21 July and 9 December 2020.
All but one were registered with a GP practice. Most made their appointments by phone. Whilst 30 people found this easy to do, 12 found it difficult to make an appointment.
24 people had visited a dentist and 19 had been to hospital. Their experiences varied considerably, but all were adjusting to new ways of working during the Covid-19 pandemic.
All but one person said they felt safe in the local community. There was limited understanding of the concept of safeguarding and how to report a concern.
Respondents gave their views on how health and care services could be improved and what one thing would most improve their health and wellbeing.
Over half said they would go to the Harbour Project if they needed information about services.
