Summary of report content

Healthwatch Warwickshire gathered 428 people's experiences about their use of an online patient portal during November to December 2019. A questionnaire was used to collect this information.

The report found that people would use the portal to save time waiting on the phone and to get 24/7 access for booking appointments and viewing test results. People were concerned about data security and disclosing personal information. The portal must be simple to use and ensure that there are useful and streamlined functions involved. It is also important to consider it's accessibility, particularly around compatibility with all devices and use of translation services.

A number of recommendations were made in the report relating to accessibility, training and communication.
