Summary of report content

Healthwatch Tameside reports on the mental health and wellbeing findings from their Covid-19 survey.  They received 550 responses between the beginning of May to the end of October.

Half of the respondents felt that their mental health and wellbeing had been affected by the pandemic.  Over time, the proportion of people reporting this increased from 45% in May and June to 58% percent in late July to October.

Twelve people had a diagnosed mental health condition.  People felt that waiting times had been extended, phone and online support was not as good as face to face support and the support offered didn’t take into account people’s circumstances.

People who hadn’t accessed mental health services before the pandemic found particularly difficult to access support. They felt the services available could be improved.

The report also looks at:

  • what activities people missed
  • what they did to improve their mental health
  • How they felt about groups and activities opening again
  • General comments about the impact of the pandemic.
