Summary of report content

Healthwatch St Helens carried out a survey to allow local people to voice their concerns during the Covid crisis. They received 2573 responses to the survey, with over 300 people choosing to give additional information about their experiences. The key themes identified include-

  • access to GPs, repeat prescriptions and medication reviews
  • access to medical support including dentists
  • cancelled or delayed treatment or tests
  • issues with mental health such as anxiety, fear, depression and loneliness
  • no support for the bereaved whether by COVID-19 or anything else
  • feeling forgotten specially after shielding
  • concerns for frontline workers and key workers
  • praise for medical staff
