Healthwatch Hounslow have reported on 1049 people views of the coronavirus pandemic who identify as being from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
The report found that there is a clear health inequality as Black and Minority Ethnic groups are at higher risk of contracting the virus. 41% of Black and Minority Ethnic respondents are worried about their own health, compared to 29% from white backgrounds. Half of Black and Minority Ethnic respondents (50%) are concerned about infection risk at services, compared to 33% from white backgrounds. 40% of Black and Minority Ethnic respondents are worried about their job or finances – this compares to 28% from white backgrounds. 68% have found information in accessible formats, comparing with 77% from white backgrounds.
A number of recommendations were made relating to health services, mental health, and the community.
