Healthwatch Leeds reported on people's experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic in a weekly report.
The report found that older people have been mentally impacted by isolation and being digitally excluded. Older people are finding it harder to access medical appointments on the whole, often due to difficulties with getting through to surgeries on the phone. Some people are now attending socially distanced lunch clubs, albeit in smaller numbers than before the pandemic. Telephone befriending has been implemented and works well.
Healthwatch Leeds are working together with LS25 & LS26 Local Care Partnership to find out how Covid19 has impacted people’s lifestyle in surrounding areas. People are reporting that they enjoy living close to beautiful parks, nature reserves and the countryside, but over half of respondents said their activity levels have been impacted.
People also reported not being able to be seen for treatment. A number of issues have been highlighted relating to eligibility and appointment availability for flu jabs.
No recommendations were made in this report.
