Healthwatch Sunderland conducted a survey in June 2020 and collected views from 714 people about their experiences of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The report found that the majority of people were able to access relevant information, but clarity around some support was needed, such as GP access, and managing existing conditions. Communication could have been improved between patient and health or social care services to help alleviate uncertainty. 53% off people stated that their mental health and been negatively impacted during the pandemic. General health, such as smoking, alcohol intake, had increased also.
These results are to be shared with commissioners.
