Summary of report content

Healthwatch East Sussex launched a survey in mid-May 2020 to explore the direct and indirect impacts of the lockdown, social distancing measures and changes to services on the health and wellbeing of young people aged 11 to 18.

The survey found that most 11-18 year olds had connected with people virtually during the lockdown; they enjoyed spending more time with family and felt safe at home; most had issues coping with the worries related to Covid-19 crisis; those who had used digital healthcare felt that although it met their needs, they would prefer someone face-to-face in the future; most obtained information about Covid-19 through parents/carers/families; some had experienced changes or disruption to health services or treatment which had an impact on them; they were mostly confident about accessing health or care services for any treatment or worries that are not related to Covid-19.
