Healthwatch Tower Hamlets analysed the results of their general Covid-19 survey to elicit the specific experiences of the BAME community. Over half of the respondents to their survey (182 people) were from BAME backgrounds.
Black British people were more likely to look up their symptoms somewhere other than on the NHS 111 website, compared to the White British people in the survey. Bangladeshi people were less likely to work from home, more likely to use NHS 111, less likely to join online mutual support groups, more likely to feel socially isolated and more likely to worry about their job or finances. Both groups were less likely to work full time, more likely to be in precarious financial situations, less likely to exercise outdoors, more likely to have telephone GP consultations, less likely to have online consultations and more likely to feel worried about their health than White British respondents.
