Healthwatch Luton undertook a study to understand the experiences of people who were using mental health services within Luton and to know what services were available in Luton. They undertook various engagement events to find out about people’s experiences.
They found that there is some great work happening within Luton and the mental health system. Their findings were categorised under the subthemes of staff resilience, communication between people and providers, personality disorders, aftercare, integrated approach, perceptions, admissions to wards, access to CMHTs, safeguarding alerts and autonomy on the wards.
They made several recommendations and the report highlights the outcomes that have already been implemented. Healthwatch Luton will create a project wide Recommendations: Action and Review (RAR) for the recommendations made within this report, and this will be reviewed and followed up within the next year, based on the timescales within the document.
