Healthwatch Halton launched a survey throughout May 2020 to collect people's views about how they are coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. They collected feedback from 191 people.
The report found that the majority of respondents reported that they were able to access clear and understandable information during the pandemic. Although, 5% stated that were concerned about mixed messages from different sources. NHS 111 was the main source of medical advice for those experiencing COVID symptoms. Almost two thirds of respondents reported that their mental health had been affected by the pandemic. There have been many instances of cancelled appointments, treatments and operations in secondary care settings. It also appears from comments that some respondents with underlying health conditions are experiencing stress and anxiety due to fear of contracting the virus and the reduction in health care appointments and post operation support.
