Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees conducted an Enter and View visit to Roseville Care Centre. Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees were invited back to Roseville Care Centre by the home manager in order to see what improvements had been made since our previous Enter & View visit in 2018. The spoke to 33 residents, relatives and staff members.
The report found that residents reported that the staff has time to stop and chat, although very busy. There were many opportunities for residents to engage in social activities, including using the garden. Residents have access to health care professionals, such as dentists and opticians. Relatives were positive about the care home staff. Some relatives reported that there were few activities outside of the home for residents. Staff felt they could bring up concerns with their manager and felt listened to. Staff reported they have had adequate training and continue to develop their skills.
Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees recommended that the home provide further opportunities for residents to enjoy activities outside of the home; a pictorial menu would be beneficial; staffing levels must be constantly reviewed; and male residents may need to be considered when organising activities.
