Healthwatch Sunderland carried out an Enter and View visit on 18 February 2020 to Washington Grange Care Home, as part of a programme of annual visits to all local care homes. They spoke to 7 staff, 2 residents and 4 relatives.
The report looks at 9 indicators of good quality care in care homes: a strong and visible management, staff with time and skills to do their job, a good knowledge of each resident and their individual needs, a varied programme of activities, quality, choice and flexibility around food and mealtimes, regular access to health professionals, accommodation of residents’ personal, cultural and lifestyle needs, an open environment where feedback is actively sought and used and provide a physical environment which is suitable for the needs of the residents. The Healthwatch Enter and View team assessed the home against each of the indicators. They either agreed or strongly agreed that the home met all these indicators, other than for staff time where they were neutral. There were no recommendations.
