Healthwatch Sunderland carried out an Enter and View visit on 21 January 2020 to Cedar House Care Home, as part of a programme of annual visits to all local care homes. They spoke to 3 staff, 2 residents and 5 relatives.
The report looks at 9 indicators of good quality care in care homes: a strong and visible management, staff with time and skills to do their job, a good knowledge of each resident and their individual needs, a varied programme of activities, quality, choice and flexibility around food and mealtimes, regular access to health professionals, accommodation of residents’ personal, cultural and lifestyle needs, an open environment where feedback is actively sought and used and provide a physical environment which is suitable for the needs of the residents. The Healthwatch Enter and View team assessed the home against each of the indicators. They agreed that the home met all but 2 of these indicators. The team were neutral about staff having the time to do their jobs and about the quality and choice of food and mealtimes. There were no recommendations.
