Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees conducted an Enter and View visit to Elton Hall care home in March 2020/ They spoke to 30 residents, staff and relatives via interviews and surveys.
The report found that residents regarded staff as friendly and caring. Residents reported that there are activities available to them and they can choose whether to participate. The food was rated highly. Relatives reported that they feel comfortable making complaints with the care home manager. Relatives also regarded the staff as having the necessary skills to care for their loved one. Staff reported that they felt well supported by their manager. They felt that they had enough time to care for the residents.
Three recommendations were made including that stimulation is provided to residents who choose not to participate in group activities; staffing levels should be kept under review to ensure needs, including both physical and emotional needs of residents are being met; and suitable training should be provided for all staff engaged with residents.
The service provider responded well to the report.
