Healthwatch Trafford conducted an announced Enter and View visit to Ferrol Lodge Care Home in October 2019. The home provides care and support to up to 23 elderly residents.
The report found that residents had choice over whether they spent time in their rooms or in multiple communal lounges. Some residents wanted more trips outside in the afternoons. Staff reported being satisfied with their work and were observed to be friendly and caring towards the residents. Complaints procedures were provided in easy read format for residents and is available in all rooms. The Manager reported that each morning the home operates a designated social time for staff to spend time with residents that is not a about tasks and is purely social, and it is called ‘Together at 10’.
A number of recommendation were made in the report, including that hand gel should be visible to visitors entering the home; provide a shower room; review personalising bedroom doors; and to continue refurbishing the bedrooms.
The service provider responde well to these recommendations.
