Healthwatch Bucks carried out an Enter and View visit to Ryeview Manor, a residential care home that, at the time, provided care for 92 people including many living with dementia.
Key findings by the Enter and View representatives included: staff interacted confidently with residents on a one-to-one basis; residents' past lives were recognised and the home decor reflected this; there were some inconsistencies which could be confusing for those living with dementia; and few residents were engaged with each other or staff in activities.
Healthwatch Bucks made several recommendations surrounding: food and drink choices and menus; encouraging residents to get involved in day to day household tasks as activities in themselves; maximising the benefits and encouragement of activities; and trying to enable residents who wanted to have more baths to do so. The report contains a positive response from the service provider.
