Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire carried out an Enter and View visit to Glenfield GP Surgery. This visit was undertaken to gain the patient perception of the service and to use evidence (feedback and observation) to determine if there is room for improvement. The visit was prompted by feedback from members of the public to Healthwatch Leicester and Healthwatch Leicestershire. A questionnaire was used to structure the gathering of feedback from the patients that were spoken to.
Overall, the patient experience that was captured on the day was very positive; 14 out of the 17 patients spoken to rated the practice as either 'Good' or 'Very Good'. Whilst the team observed that many steps had been taken to allow better confidentiality, Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire recommended that the practice considered installing a lower counter at the front reception for wheelchair users.
They noted that for many patients, access to appointments was considered a problem - a common issue for GP practices.
The report contains a positive response from the service provider.
