Healthwatch St Helens undertook an Enter and View visit to Greengate House on 4th April 2019. The home caters for people who are over 18 and have a mental health condition. Potential residents are assessed, and referrals are usually via the Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN). The home had 13 residents at the time of visit. Healthwatch staff found the home to be welcoming, clean, bright and airy with modern décor and an atmosphere of calm. There was adequate security via CCTV cameras and intruder alarms; an emergency call button in each bedroom; adequate staffing levels with good staff-resident relationships; excellent facilities for recreation and leisure for the residents; monthly rolling food menus catering to the residents' needs. The residents’ privacy and dignity were always maintained, and they had access to a CPN every fortnight. The report recommended the providers to be aware of the temperature in the lounge and continue the person-centred care. It contains a response from the provider.
