Summary of report content

Healthwatch Derby carried out a project to explore local people's experiences of care for their diabetes. The services people accessed for this care included: GP practices; community services, including eye screening and podiatry; educational courses; and specialist hospital services.

To gather this information, Healthwatch Derby conducted a survey and one case study. The survey was completed by 118 people. The team attended several clinics in the local area and conducted outreach events in Derby City. Overall the findings were positive, with people saying the main areas that worked well across the services they accessed for their diabetes were: the services overall; treatment and care; communication; staff; service and admin. The main areas people said they wanted to see improvements in were: waiting times and timekeeping; location and facilities; admin; overall services; communication; and other services. The report contains responses from two local service providers.
