Healthwatch Hartlepool carried out an Enter and View visit to Rossmere Park Care Home on 23 January 2019.
The Enter and View representatives spoke to three members of staff and 14 residents. During the visit, they found that: generally residents seemed to be very happy in the home; the home was clean, reception was bright and inviting, and dementia colour contrast standards were being followed; residents commented that staff were kind and helpful, and that they felt safe in the home; a good range of activities were available and residents were encouraged and supported to participate; residents were generally happy with the food and drink choices available to them.
Healthwatch Hartlepool made three recommendations, around: ensuring staffing levels and structure were sufficient to support residents who need assistance with toileting; reviewing the variety of soft/pulped food available to increase choice for residents who require it; and ensuring fluid charts were in operation to prevent dehydration. The report includes a positive response from the service provider.
