Summary of report content

Healthwatch East Riding of Yorkshire conducted an Enter and View visit to Prospect House on the 10th October 2018. They engaged with 6 residents, staff and visitors during the visit.

It was found that they building was homely and that there were a range of activities on offer for the residents. Infection control measures were in place as well as medicine management procedures. Staff reported that there were adequate staffing levels and that they feel adequately trained. It was reported that dental services can be difficult to procure but other health services are available, such has opticians and community nurses. There is dementia friendly signage throughout the home and each resident has their own door number, residents seem aware of their own number and those of their friends. Relatives reported being well-informed and are kept updated about their relatives' care. Many residents have lived locally all of their lives and their local community remains important to them, the home provides as many opportunities as possible for them to remain a part of their local community by supporting them in maintaining friendships, going out into the village and receiving regular visits from local school children.

Healthwatch East Riding of Yorkshire recommended that the home ensures there is a visible presence of staff ready to assist residents when necessary during staff changeover times.

The service provider responded positively to the report.
