Summary of report content

Healthwatch East Sussex made an Enter and View visit to the Midwifery-led unit at Eastbourne District General Hospital in September 2018. Their aim was to revisit recommendations made in previous reviews from 2016 and build upon the conclusion's women had already shared with Healthwatch on what a ‘Gold Standard’ service looks like. They collected the experiences of women and their families about the services provided at the unit via surveys. The response provided overwhelmingly positive views about the standards of the facilities and the care received. Women also said they were satisfied with the service even when the birth hadn’t gone as planned and wanted to come back for care even when they were transferred to another hospital.
