Summary of report content

Part of the Healthwatch Worcestershire (HWW) remit is to carry out Enter and View Visits.

Patients have reported to HWW their experience of long waits at the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E) at Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH), some of which took place on trolleys in corridor areas at the hospital. The Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH) is run by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust (WAHT).

HWW wrote to WAHT and informed them of the intention to carry out unannounced Enter and View visits to the A&E Departments during the week of 9th April 2018.

The purpose of the visits was to follow up on the implementation of HWW recommendations as set out in the WAHT Action Plan.

The report highlights and reviews each action which an assessment criteria is used to identify completion. The report contains six recommendations following the visit.
