Healthwatch Walsall gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Walsall to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.
Healthwatch Walsall visited Cedar Falls Care Home on 19/06/2018.
The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. These findings informed they found the home has an open and hospitable environment. The use of hand sanitisers was not encouraged. There was a query whether there is enough formal collection of feedback from Residents and Relatives about general conditions and any suggestions / criticisms.
The recommendations within the report state to update/ replace furniture as mentioned. Encourage use of hand sanitisers to visitors. Identify more opportunities for collection of relative/ carers feedback/ surveys. Display site safety rules in reception noticeable to visitors more prominently.
