Summary of report content

Healthwatch Havering conducted an announced Enter and View visit. Healthwatch Havering is aiming to visit all health and social care facilities in the borough. This is a way of ensuring that all services delivered are acceptable and the welfare of the resident, patient or other service-user is not compromised in any way.

Healthwatch Havering visited The Willows Nursing Home on 17/03/2015.

The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to the premises, care, staff and other matters. The overall findings of the visits were mixed.

The main recommendations informed that consideration be given to re-designing the foyer as it is currently very large and uninviting – perhaps by installing glass doors between the reception and the small sitting area. Consideration be given to re-designing colour schemes in those areas where it is currently very bland to ensure that there is good contrast between doors and walls – recommended for areas where there are residents with dementia. Consideration be given as to whether anything can be done, in addition to the planned planting, to improve the appearance of this wall. Seating areas in the garden.
