Healthwatch Lewisham conducted an enter and view visit at Manley Court Care Home. They spoke to 27 people during their visit including residents, relative and members of staff.
Manley court is a residential and nursing care home that specialises in care for older people with dementia. The home can accommodate up to 85 residents and at the time of the visit there were 76 residents.
The reception area and other common areas appeared clean and tidy, and the corridors and lounges allowed good access and mobility. Furnishings throughout the home could be updated to provide a more welcoming atmosphere. The lifts and doors on dementia floors are password protected.
Feedback from the residents was positive, with most residents feeling safe and respected. Some residents expressed boredom and a desire for activities outside the care home, however these can be difficult to plan. Meals and staff care were complimented. Similar feedback was provided from relatives.
The report concluded with recommendations for the care home. These included making the posters and notices on display more accessible to read, responding to issues raised, and better staffing levels.
