In September 2016 Healthwatch Leeds were asked to work with other Yorkshire & Humber Healthwatch organisations to produce a poster and a survey to look into orthodontic services and help feed into the NHS England (NHSE) orthodontic service review for those under 18 years old and have used an orthodontic service within the last 2 years.
117 people across the region gave their opinions on the services. 7 questions were raised on the survey where the key findings in areas that patients agreed to take part in were noted. A very high percentage of people were happy with the treatment they had received over 95% answered yes to Q4; ‘Are you happy with the treatment that you/they have had so far?’
There is a mixed result as to what matters most to people using the service with the slight majority saying that the outcome of the treatment was most important.
The information from this report will be shared with NHS England and used as part of their orthodontics service review. It will also be shared with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Healthwatch England and the Healthwatch Organisations that took part.
