Healthwatch North Yorkshire used the opportunity of public events fully restarting in 2022 to go out to shows, market stalls and events across the county to raise awareness of our work and hear about people’s experiences of health and care services. This is part of their ongoing work to collate and feed back to organisations who deliver and commission care (the experiences of local people) so that they can improve local provisions (good and bad) and effect change in how future services are provided.
They spoke to 1838 people across North Yorkshire from May – September 2022, capturing 185 experiences in detail.
The issues discussed were:
- Distance to hospitals and services
- GP appointments and seeing a GP/ nurse in person
- Getting a NHS dentist
- Care at home and care homes
- Too much information online
- Mental health
Across:
- Craven
- Hambleton
- Harrogate
- Richmondshire
- Ryedale
- Scarborough
- Selby
This research served as an excellent engagement event to share information on Healthwatch Yorkshire.
