Healthwatch Walsall undertook an Enter and View visit to Delves Court Care Home Ltd on 31 October and 30 November 2022. They spoke to 6 residents, 6 relatives, 2 care staff and the area manager.
The building appears to be relatively well maintained. There is a ramp with handrails to the main entrance of the building which has secured electronic entry via a keypad and call button. There is some outside garden space which has seating and focal points.
There are lifts to all floors. Entry to the main care areas is via keypad secured doors. There are handrails along all the corridors. Fixtures and fittings are well maintained and furniture and furnishings also appear to be in a good condition.
Entertainment had been arranged prior to the visit, this was a singer who had been attending several times previously and was welcomed back.
Residents felt happy, safe and appeared to be well cared for. They were dressed and clean and said staff were friendly and helpful and treated them with respect. Residents also said they had access to GP services if needed. One resident said they had not seen a dentist in two years, and had not seen an optician in three, but that could be due to Covid-19 restrictions. Other services such as an optician and a chiropodist also attend the home.
The report contains five recommendations and a response from the service provider.
