Healthwatch Milton Keynes conducted an Enter and view visit at Broomfield Residential Care on 23 June 2022. This visit was conducted to explore residents’ experiences of social isolation and loneliness. They spoke to ten residents during their visit.
Broomfield Residential Care had 34 residents at the time of the visit and a high proportion of their residents have a dementia diagnosis. The home is well-kept, and residents commented positively about recent refurbishments. There are many activities offered to residents and staff make an effort to ensure residents take part if they would like.
Residents spoke positively of the staff and their kindness, particularly referencing the long-term staff. Most residents are overall happy with the food; however, comments were made about the temperature of the food.
The report concluded with a couple of recommendations for the home, including installing a ramp to replace a step at the carpark for easier access and a few dementia friendly activity ideas.
