Home care services: Research into the experiences of people in County Durham

Healthwatch Country Durham undertook a research project about people’s experiences of home care services. They created a survey to gather people’s views and 28 people responded to the survey.
Most of the respondents receive care every day of the week, and 79% of respondents have two care workers per visit. Only two respondents reported their care visits lasting only 15 minutes, the other respondents reported that their visits last for 30 minutes. 75% of respondents said the carers always or mostly have time to complete all the tasks.
Over 80% of the respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with the home care that is provided to them.
The report concludes by recognising the need for patients to have regular care workers, identify where existing services can tackle loneliness, and ensure processes to address issues are quick.
