Healthwatch Bedford Borough and Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire undertook an Enter and View visit to the General and Paediatrics A&E Departments, the Urgent Treatment Centre and the Acute Assessment Unit at Bedford Hospital during the period 5 July 2022 to 27 July 2022. They spoke to 192 people. The aim of the visits was to engage with patients, Carers and relatives about their experience of visiting the hospital, and to talk to staff to better understand the challenges they face, and to observe the environment.

- wait and knowledge of treatment
- previous consultation with NHS 111 or other healthcare professionals

- Experience with reception staff
- Improvements for patients and access to refreshments

- The building and environment, including parking
The report includes a range of overall recommendations about waiting times, interpreters, accessible information, additional support for nursing staff, Freedom to Speak Up Guardians, signage, food and drink, privacy, complaints and maintenance. There are also recommendations for each of the services visited.
