Summary of report content

Healthwatch Warrington conducted an Enter and View on Fairfield Surgery, Warrington, a practice with approximately 3,000 registered patients on 21 February 2017.

This visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Warrington’s Enter and View schedule.

Observation by the two Enter and View representatives reported that: the external area was well maintained and there was room in the porch for buggies and ambulatory aids; the reception area was welcoming and patient flow through reception was efficient; signage was good and the premises were well maintained and clean with a neutral odour throughout.

Negative observations included the small reception raising some privacy restrictions, also the small reception space limited wheelchair and buggy access if the waiting area is full. There was a lack of Patient Participation (PPG) information available and no raised seating or emergency cord in the toilet.

Patients commented that they were positive about the surgery.

Recommendations included providing more information to patients about the PPG and installing a safety cord in the toilet.

The manager responded positively to the report and had commented during the visit about planned PPG information being made available as well as planned upgrades to access.
