Summary of report content

Healthwatch Leeds wanted to undertake engagement on people’s experiences of delays in appointments, tests and treatments.  Altogether they spoke to 234 people via a survey and talking to groups.

People were waiting for a variety of treatment and appointments, including hospital, GPs and dentists. Reasons given for delays in treatment included Covid and staff shortages.  The survey listed a variety of ways in which it had impacted their health and wellbeing.

People would have liked information on how long they would wait and how they should look after themselves in the meantime.  People have paid for private treatment in the meantime.

Groups Healthwatch Leeds spoke to talked about the need for interpreters, digital exclusion, access to mental health treatment.
