Summary of report content

Healthwatch Manchester undertook a mystery shopping review of access to Patient Participation Groups in December 2022. They contacted all GP practices in the Manchester City area to find out if they had a Patient Participation Group, how they would join, how often meetings took place and whether the meetings were accessible.

Overall, 70% of the practices they contacted had evidence of a Patient Participation Group either on their website or via the calls made to them. However, only 19% of the overall number of practices were able to provide clear details on how to join, where they would be and when they would be.

The report contains three recommendations about improving access to PPGs.
