Healthwatch East Sussex report on the findings of their 2022 Listening Tour in Eastbourne. They heard from 489 people in total. Key themes in the feedback they received included:

  • People’s appreciation for the NHS and the expertise and professionalism of NHS staff
  • The most common frustrations with the NHS were waiting times and delays, causing negative impacts on people’s physical and mental wellbeing.
  • People told about the challenges they often experienced when accessing health and care services. This included a lack of suitable adaptations to buildings, especially for those with disabilities or impairments.
  • The five most identified care services needing improvements were: Home care, Support to live independently, Dementia services, Community-based Services (charities, support services for certain groups such as homeless, refugees and asylum seekers) and Residential Care/Nursing Home.

The report also looks at changes to people’s behaviour since the cost-of-living crisis began in 2022.
