Information gathered from a number of events and seldom heard groups were targeted: Bristol Eye Hospital Technology Day, Bristol Pride, Hartcliffe Dementia Wellbeing Service, St Werburghs Dementia Wellbeing Service, Riverside Adolescent Unit, Bristol Recovery Festival, St Pauls Learning Centre Open Day, Knowle West Festival, Knightstone Housing +55 Project (St Agnes), Family Fund day, Bedminster Carers Support Group, Celebrating Age Festival, Malcom X Open day Age festival celebration, Healthwatch Bristol and Health and Wellbeing Event and Prostate Cancer Awareness event for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.

Volunteering:

• Training opportunities – Enter and View

• Masters Student placement for UWE students

• Ten volunteers undertook Mental Health Awareness Training

• Delivery of a workshop at National Healthwatch Conference on “Recruiting Volunteers from Hard to Reach Groups”

• Attended University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust Patient Experience Group (UHBT PEG), Maternity Voices Meeting, Healthwatch Bristol Long Term Conditions and Cancer event in South Bristol and Meeting with the Care Quality Commission

• Ongoing promotion of Volunteering

Enter and View:

• One Enter and View planning meeting

• Ongoing meetings with Quarry House staff

• 3 volunteers attended the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Healthwatch link meeting in September 2017

Key Themes from advocacy:

• NHS Complaints Advocacy in Bristol provided by SEAP (Support, Empower, Advocate, Promote) and supports people to complain about NHS services.

• Complaints Procedure Advocacy (CPA) in Bristol provided by The Care Forum and supports people to complain about social care services.

What has been done in Quarter 2?

Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Sustainability and Transformation Plan (BNSSG STP) HWB arranged to meet with the Engagement and Communications event and workshop.

The new HWB Manager attended the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) Steering Group meeting on 7 August 2017 and introduced the work HW Bristol will be doing with the team.

HWBs quarterly topic for October 2017 onwards is Mental Health and Wellbeing.
