In September 2017, Healthwatch Norfolk carried out an announced enter and view visit to Hassingham House Care Centre, a residential neurological and spinal injury nursing care provider, to speak with residents about their wellbeing.
Two Authorised Representatives visited the service and made observations of: the premises and environment, meals, activities and staffing. They also spoke with relatives of the residents.
The report highlights positive findings, including a wide range of communal and bedside activities, good choice of food and dietary needs catered to, friendly and caring staff that interact with residents, and happy residents and relatives.
The report makes 2 recommendations: to make the dining room a more welcoming space and to continue exploring the option to convert the wheelchair store into a Quiet Lounge.
The provider responded to the report; they have since had blinds fitted in the dining room and are putting into place some plans for refurbishment.
